Adaptation -

Alloy - is a metal made by melting and mixing two or more metals together, e.g. brass is a mixture of copper and zinc and bronze is an alloy of copper and tin.

Atom - What is an atom? - is the smallest particle of an element which can exist.  The tiniest part of a substance.  Everything is made up of tiny particles called atoms. Every atom is made up of even smaller particles. The center is the nucleus and very tiny particles called electrons move around it.

Compounds - Compounds have a fixed combination of different types of atoms.  Compounds can't easily be separated.  The names of some compounds can tell you what elements are in them: compounds ending in:  ...ate - contain lots of oxygen, ...ite - containe some oxygen & ...ide - contain no oxygen (except for oxides and hydroxides)
