Science Plant Facts Experiment

Leaves lose water

Materials you will need:

• A plant
• Some string
• Clear plastic bag

Seeing is believing.

Steps:

1.  Place the plastic bag over several leaves of a pot plant or on a branch of a bush.  Make sure there are no holes in your plastic bag.
2.  Gather the open end of the bag and wrap the string around the bag making sure that you have sealed the leaves inside the bag.
3.  Leave the plant for at least a day.
4.  Go back and check to see what has happened with the leaves the next day.

Did you know that - Plants lose water through the pores of their leaves?  You should be able to see water dew in the inside of the plastic bag. and the petals of the flower will start to change in colour.

This is a good outside experiment to do on a nice day.
