What makes ice slippery?
| |
When water become frozen it changes from
a liquid to a solid; called ice. When ice is warmed up
or if something presses hard on it, it begins to melt
by becoming water (liquid) again.

If you try to pick up a piece of ice that has been left
out of the freezer for a short period it begins to melt and a layer
of water (liquid) forms on it making it very slippery and very difficult
to pick up.
When ice skates press hard against the surface of the
ice it begins to melt and therefore the skates can then slide/glide
along on the water (liquid).
