Kids Science Experiments - Watch a Bean Grow

Plants and Flowers Experiments

Watch a Bean Grow

Materials you will need:

• Water
• Soil (Potting)
• A clear, plastic cup
• Two beans

This is a changing experiment right before your eyes.

Steps:

1.  Fill the cup with water
2.  Drop the two beans in the cup of water
3.  Leave the beans to soak overnight
4.  Empty water from cut and take the beans out of the cup
5.  Place each bean inside the clear cup so that they are near the side/edge of the cup and fill the cup with the potting soil (try to place the beans so the they are not next to each other - plant on each side of the cup)
6.  Place the cup in a warn light spot and water them every day.

Keep a close watch each day as you will be able to see how quickly the plants will grow.

Did you know that plants need water to live?  As well as absorbing water from the atmosphere (air) through their leaves, they suck water up through their stems.
